Weight draws attention to the load of a pregnant body.
Giacometti’s elongated figures with their disproportionally large feet rooting them down to their base, inspired me to create a life-size sculpture. These thin solitary figures, usually standing females, have a haunting loneliness about them and seem to almost disappear into the air that surrounds them. Weight, on the contrary, is a figure of a heavily pregnant woman, her thin legs and arms accentuate her prominent belly and breasts.
